A Little Night Music (London Production)

At the moment I have not yet got to put on my wet suit to swim over the channel  because I have most of "Bob's" L/P's in an archive file ready for anybody who will ask for a Re-Post when and if the file is no longer available on "Zippyshare" so this one and the next few will be a belated thank you to Bob for them !!!....Thanks Bob !!

This version is the London Production.....and I do have the Broadway "Glynis Johns" production which will be posted at a later date so you will have two to compare....

Send In The Clowns

John Dankworth

Another British Band now !!....From 1969

Off Duty!... Here, Dankworth harks back to an earlier era of jazz, innocent and intended for dancing. The tunes are in the main standards arranged here by Dankworth, David Lindup and pianist Laurie Holloway, with four originals (one from Holloway, three from Dankworth). The tunes that come off best are the leader's own slinky title track, a new take on Galt McDermott's "African Waltz" and the two Duke Ellington pieces, "Sophisticated Lady" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," the former featuring some rather nice trumpet. But this all has the feel more of easy listening than jazz.

  African Waltz

Shirley Bassey

Dame Shirl !. belting out some classic standard songs recorded in 1978 voice perfect !!
even tho' the versions are as the songs were written the voice makes them different !!!

Taking A Chance On Love

Acker Bilk

A good selection of Acker's well known tunes giving the people that are unfamiliar with his work a good introduction to his style !!

Bernard Stanley "Acker" Bilk, MBE (28 January 1929 – 2 November 2014) was an English clarinettist and vocalist known for his appearance – goatee, bowler hat and striped waistcoat – and breathy, vibrato-rich, lower-register clarinet style.
Bilk's 1962 instrumental tune "Stranger on the Shore" became the UK's biggest selling single of 1962: it was in the UK charts for more than 50 weeks, peaking at number two, and was the first No. 1 single in the United States by a British artist in the era of the modern Billboard Hot 100 pop chart.

Ted Heath Band

One of Britain's great Big Band Sound from the 50's and I was there !!! what with "Lita Roza" "Dickie Valentine" & "Dennis Lotis" it was a teenagers dream just to be there and listen !!...also loads of menories having a pint or so with some of the Band in "The Marquis Of Wellington" and even buying "Lita Roza" a coffee in the now defunct "Banners" Coffee Bar !! This of course was in "Leicester" !!!

Wrap your Trouble In Dreams

The New Seekers

A trip now to the early 70's and a gulp of "Coca Cola" to quench your thirst !!...Typical style of songs from the 70's Including of course the "Cola" song !!
The group was formed after the disbanding of the successful 1960s Australian group the Seekers. Keith Potger, a member of the Seekers, put together the New Seekers in 1969,

The Nickel Song

Acker Bilk & Bent Fabric

The advantage of having a "Archive" file is I suppose you can gather all the artists together and post them one after the other !!....BUT that would be a bit of a bore like "Too Much of a good Thing" or "Having your cake and eating it " or sayings of that ilk !!..Bob is responsible for this post as well....I'm glad about not having to swim !!!...cheers Bob !!
