Shorty Rogers

Ok folks this is a first for me !...heard the name but never heard anything by this swing band!.....so another one from the 50's 1954 to be presise

Milton "Shorty" Rogers (April 14, 1924 – November 7, 1994) was one of the principal creators of West Coast jazz. He played trumpet and flugelhorn and was in demand for his skills as an arranger.
After the early 1960s Rogers stopped performing on trumpet, and left the jazz scene for many years. Among other composing and arranging activities, he arranged a series of records for the Monkees (including "Daydream Believer") in the late 1960s, and in the 1970s wrote the jazzy background score to TV's The Partridge Family during the show's first season. He also contributed episode scores for the fourth season of Starsky & Hutch.

  1. I have most of Shorty's albums and what you have here is in my opinion one if not the best of his output - just a wonderful sense of playfulness and a tight coordination of efforts from all - I hope others give this a listen for if not, surly missing one of the best - well done and nice share for sure....
