Glen Gray & The Casa Loma Orchestra

Now we have some Great Big Band Swing sounds.....this is the first of many L/P's CD's of The Casa Loma Orchestra that I will be posting courtesy of "Duke"...Thanks Duke !

The Casa Loma Orchestra was an American dance band active from 1929 to 1963. Until the rapid multiplication in the number of swing bands from 1935 on, the Casa Loma Orchestra was one of the top North American dance bands. With the decline of the big band business following the end of World War II, it disbanded in 1947. However, from 1957 to 1963, it re-emerged as a recording session band in Hollywood, made up of top-flight studio musicians under the direction of its most notable leader of the past, Glen Gray. The reconstituted band made a limited number appearances live and on television and recorded fifteen LP albums for Capitol Records before Gray died in 1963.

Wacky Favourites..1.VA

A wacky Compilation to keep you amused and perhaps cool you down from the Compilation Below !!

Some of rock's most nauseating but memorable hits. The title aptly describes this compilation that includes Ray Stevens' zany "Gitarzan," David Seville's silly "Witch Doctor," the Hollywood Argyles' "Alley Oop," and Jose Jiminez' super-stupid "Astronaut." If you're a lover of novelty tunes then you'll love this collection. A good ice-breaker for those staid gatherings.

Nat King Cole

Originally envisioned as a standard 10- to 12-song LP, "Night Lights" never made it to a full release. Instead only eight of the tracks presented here were released (on various singles and an EPs), and only 3 of those made it to CD before release of this album. This release contains all the tracks from the "Night Lights Sessions". All tracks were recorded between December 20, 1955 and January 21, 1956.

(Revised) Review by William Ruhlmann Of AllMusic
Between December 20, 1955, and January 21, 1955, Cole held a series of recording sessions with arranger/conductor Nelson Riddle. Cole was near the peak of his commercial appeal, but this was also a transitional period in the record business, with rock & roll coming in and claiming a big chunk of the pop singles charts. The wonder is that, in the 36 years since Cole's death, Capitol has only bothered to release four of these tracks beyond the four singles sides released at the time, leaving 12 unreleased Cole masters of this quality. It's true that the performances are more impressive than the actual compositions, but this album still constitutes a welcome discovery among Cole reissues.
