Clinton Ford (4 November 1931 – 21 October 2009) was an English popular singer of the 1950s and 1960s.He began his recording career as Clinton Ford with the Oriole record label, changing his name because his own did not fit some of his American songs. He performed skiffle in the Backwoods Skiffle Group and recorded some unsuccessful singles with the Hallelujah Skiffle Group. He appeared at the Royal Albert Hall, and with Ken Dodd on Dodd's television shows. He also appeared in Stars and Garters, The Billy Cotton Band Show, and The Good Old Days.Ford had his first success with a cover of the Red Foley song "Old Shep", which appeared on the chart in 1959. Ford donated all his royalties from this recording to the Guide Dogs for the Blind. It was the only version of the song ever to chart in the UK. His next singles were "Too Many Beautiful Girls" followed by "Fanlight Fanny" which was his most successful single, reaching 22 in the UK Singles Chart in March 1962. His album Fanlight Fanny (1962) reached number 16 in the UK Albums Chart. He toured with Kenny Ball & His Jazzmen and played at the Cavern Club in Liverpool around the time that the Beatles were starting to become popular.

Ken Dodd

This is a very early incarntion of the then singer "Ken Dodd", don't know what came first Ken the singer or Ken the comedian...So to those who don't know who he is then the Photo above is th singer and the one below is the comedian !!

Sir Kenneth Arthur Dodd, OBE (born 8 November 1927) is an English comedian, singer-songwriter and actor, identified by his unruly hair and protruding teeth, his red, white and blue "tickling stick" and his upbeat greeting of "How tickled I am!". He also created the characters of the Diddy Men ("diddy" being an informal British word for "small").

Dodd has had many recording hits, charting on 19 occasions in the UK Top 40, including his first single "Love Is Like a Violin" (1960), produced on Decca Records by Alex Wharton, which charted at number 8 (UK), and his song "Tears" (Columbia), which topped the UK charts for five weeks in 1965, selling over a million copies. At the time it was the UK's biggest selling single by a solo artist, and remains one of the UK's biggest selling singles of all time.

Sandra King

Still over the pond and still on the subject of lost and neglected singers of which the above singer is one of them...Neglected not lost because she is still with us !!....I thought that she was from over the pond (USA) untill I read the back cover....another great voice that we let get away. !!...Its a great voice and she needs to be heard more !!

With her Rapunzel-like red hair and stunning face and figure, Sandra King could have been an actress or a model -- but her voice was so much stronger than any of those other attributes that music always beckoned as a career. Born Sandra Fairbrass in London in 1950,  By 1963, at age 13, Sandra King was cutting songwriters' demos, and she made her professional performing debut at age 17 in a musical play broadcast by the BBC over British television. A little bit later, she was heard at a jazz club by visiting American singer Mark Murphy, who brought her together with Scottish-born lawyer turned jazz pianist Pat Smythe, a veteran of Joe Harriott's band who was also established as an arranger and accompanist. Smythe took her under his wing, the start of what turned into a 15-year partnership. He encouraged her to audition for saxophonist/club owner Ronnie Scott, who booked the 17-year-old for a three-week engagement at his club, on a bill with Horace Silver. She later appeared with Stan Getz and Kenny Burrell. King made her recording debut in 1969 with an album of songs by Henry Mancini -- clearly, she was bucking the trends and tastes of the majority of her generation, which ran more toward rock & roll and rock sounds, but she never broke stride, and with help from admirers who included Mancini and singer Tony Bennett, she built a serious musical career on several continents.
