Jane Powell.320.Kbps

Re-Post
This is the original sleeve of the L/P...a bit battered and torn but it has been a favourite and played for the last 50 odd years...
There is a distinct difference in the sound of the Vinyl to the C.D....I just love the sound of the scratches and bumps...woooah pure sound not manufactured and messed about like the latest recorded sounds..

P.S. This is still one of my favourites and I never get tired of listening to it...hence the new recording and re-post....Every one should be a friend to "Janey" and treat yourself to a treat "Musically" of course !!!!

Anne Shelton.320.Kbps

Re-Post

I wish I had taken more care of the sleeves of my L/P's cos' this one is falling to pieces hence the sellotape around the edges but after 50 odd years it peels off leaving a yellow stain as you can see...that's the adhesive dried out....But that does not make any difference to the contents of the record...A fantastic one is this... Anne Shelton at her peak and sounding great....Now where are all the Classy English singers of today they seemed to have disappeared I wish we had some singers that have crystal clear voices so we can understand the words of the song they are singing....Okay styles and songs have changed over the last 50 odd years so its good job that "Edison" had a brainwave"!!!!...Oh yes forgot we do have a classy singer of today "Dame Shirley" of course...anybody got any other idea's!!!

P.S. This L/P is the best that Anne recorded  (IMHO)

Here's an iconic Sinatra L/P....Just about the best vocal swinging L/P that has been recorded !!

P.S. The arrangements by "Nelson Riddle" helped 100% in lifting Sinatra's Singing to new heights after his "Bobby Sox" Days of the 40's when he sang with the big bands and gave him the edge of the other band singers !!! and he didn't look back!!!!

Lita Roza.320.Kbps

Re-Post

Here is a great L/P by a classy lady... love the arrangments particular on "The Other Women"
Nina Simone done a great job with it on her Album "Nina At The Town Hall"....Lita's version I recon equals it...I remember meeting her in the 50's even bought her a coffee in a coffee bar after she had done a concert at our local concert hall....She was one of the singers with the "Ted Heath Band" along with "Dickie Valentine & Dennis Lotis"....They were in the pub along with most of the band members...Ah sweet memories !!...Anyway back to reality...I also have most of the tracks on a compilation CD....BUT they have mucked about with the sound.. the clarity in her voice seems to be missing and also if you notice they seemed to have recorded her with a very slight echo...that's missing and all of the tracks seem to be flat...If anybody is interested in hearing the difference I will be glad to post it..This L/P was recorded in 1958 !!

P.S. great to find a video from YouTube of one of the tracks below....Pity there is not more!!..This is also a great L/P that does get played loads of times even now 59 Years later !!!

Chad & Jeremy

Chad and Jeremy are an English singing folk rock duo originating in the 1960s, comprising Chad Stuart (born David Stuart Chadwick, 10 December 1941, Windermere, Cumbria) and Jeremy Clyde (born Michael Thomas Jeremy Clyde, 22 March 1941, Dorney, Buckinghamshire). Jeremy often sings the melody of a song while Chad sings higher harmonies. They were part of the British Invasion, a large influx of British rock and pop musicians to the American music scene.

John Dankworth

Another British Band now !!....From 1969

Off Duty!... Here, Dankworth harks back to an earlier era of jazz, innocent and intended for dancing. The tunes are in the main standards arranged here by Dankworth, David Lindup and pianist Laurie Holloway, with four originals (one from Holloway, three from Dankworth). The tunes that come off best are the leader's own slinky title track, a new take on Galt McDermott's "African Waltz" and the two Duke Ellington pieces, "Sophisticated Lady" and "Don't Get Around Much Anymore," the former featuring some rather nice trumpet. But this all has the feel more of easy listening than jazz.

  African Waltz
